120 Individuals Baptized on a Single Day in Sierra Leone

A Joyful Milestone in the Lord’s Work

The morning of August 23, 2025 is a day to be remembered among the saints of Moriba Town in Sierra Leone.  On that day, 120 individuals entered the waters of baptism marking a significant moment in the growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the region.

Many of the individuals baptized were introduced to the Church through member invitations, through participation in Gathering Places, and through the diligent service of full-time missionaries. Their conversion stories reflect the powerful influence of personal connection, consistent service, and the ongoing efforts to share the gospel.

Each of these new converts had prepared through faith, repentance, and a desire to make covenants with their Heavenly Father. Their decision to follow the Savior Jesus Christ represents a personal and spiritual milestone, as well as a collective celebration for the Moriba Town Sierra Leone District.

The sacred event was attended and supported by leaders from the area including President Scott and Sister Kathy Wyatt, mission leaders of the Sierra Leone Bo Mission of The Church, two senior missionary couples, President Samuel Mulai, President of the Moriba Town Sierra Leone District, and others. Their presence reflected the unified commitment to nurturing the spiritual progress of individuals and the strengthening of the Church in Sierra Leone.

President Mulai shared his feelings of gratitude and optimism following the baptisms saying, “I am deeply grateful and joyful for the new converts who have recently joined us. The missionaries are working diligently, not only to strengthen this district but also to contribute to the progress of the mission as a whole. Our members are actively engaged, and the branch presidents are faithfully supporting the full-time missionaries in fulfilling their sacred work.”

President Mulai also emphasized the importance of unity in the gathering of Israel and the building of Zion:

“I know that as we continue to build Zion and gather Israel, our Heavenly Father will strengthen us and bless our efforts. As District President, I am truly thankful for the dedication of the members in my district and for the unwavering support of our Mission President and his counselors. Together, we are moving forward in faith and unity.”

This joyful event stands as a testament to the Lord’s work progressing in West Africa, and to the faith, unity, and love shared among the Saints in Sierra Leone. Local Church leaders and members have expressed their commitment to continue supporting these new members in their journey of faith and discipleship.
