In Kigali, Rwanda, the Church recently participated in a handover ceremony where 185 desks, a new wash station, 16 student latrines and 5 toilets for teachers were donated to the Kacyiru School in the Gasabo District.  This initiative was carried out to provide desks for students who previously lacked proper seating, enabling them to study comfortably and improving their academic performance.   It also aimed to promote better sanitation and overall well-being among the students.

President John A. Koranteng of the Kigali Rwanda Mission, on behalf of Church members in Rwanda and worldwide, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to support this project, explaining that the funding comes from Church members throughout the world, and he reflected on the greatest commandments – to love God and to love our neighbors. He also highlighted the importance of acting on that love.  He explained that it is difficult for children to focus and learn without proper desks, and that providing them is one way of living Christ’s teachings.  Quoting the Savior’s words about caring for those in need, he compared this effort to giving clothing to those who lack it, emphasizing that such acts of service are expressions of true discipleship.

District Education Officer, Lambert Riziki, expressed sincere appreciation to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its continued support.  He noted his long-standing awareness of the Church and commended its strong commitment to humanitarian and charitable work.  He added that, “Such contributions reflect the kind of partnership encouraged by national leadership.”   He emphasized that, “With the donation of desks and the construction of sanitation facilities, it is now the responsibility of the school to take ownership and ensure proper care and use of these resources.”
