Church Delivers Major Improvements to a Muslim-founded School in Entebbe, Uganda

“Humanity is what unites us all.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated significant upgrades for the Entebbe Parents Senior Secondary School in Entebbe Uganda in January 2023. This is a Muslim-founded school that serves about 1,000 students from low-income families.

Construction work began in October 2022 and the completion ceremony took place on January 28, 2023. The upgrades included one new three-classroom structure, two new latrine structures, 60 desks, three tables, three chairs, two large water tanks, and one conference table.

Representatives from government, education, and the Church attended the completion ceremony. They included the Honorable Michael Kakembo, Member of Parliament for Entebbe, and Joyce Nalubega, the District Education Officer. These were joined by staff, families, and students. The Church was represented by Ambrose Kilama, President of the Kampala South Stake (akin to a diocese), Emmanuel Muteesasira, leader of a local congregation, and Elder and Sister Bird, full-time missionaries who supervised the construction project.

During the ceremony, President Kilama said, “I commend the school for giving scholarships to needy students regardless their circumstances. We are happy to be a partner in improving the school.”

He added that "despite our differences, humanity is what unites us all together. The funding of this project was made possible by donations from members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide.”
