Ramba Boys High School in Siaya County, Kenya was the site of a tragic accident on Saturday, 22 March 2025, when a septic tank collapsed while several students were standing above it.  Two young men, Ryan Otieno and David Awinda perished in the accident while others were able to escape the site.  The school was subsequently closed for approximately one month affecting some 1,900 students.

Upon seeing the report of this event on the news, Area Humanitarian Manager Denis Mukasa contacted the school and volunteered assistance.  The Church then contracted for the construction of two 20 stall latrines to provide restroom facilities for the school.

On 13 October 2025, the Church participated in a handover ceremony for the new restroom facilities with President Peter Akal, President of the Kisumu District, Denis Mukasa, Philip Moatlhodi Area Welfare Manager, and Senior Humanitarian Missionaries Elder and Sister Marx representing the Church.  Dr. Patrick Odhier (Principal),  Mary Simgwe Odhiambo (Board Chair), and Moses Daula, (Parents Teacher Association Chair), represented the school.

Dr. Patrick Odhier said, “This gift resulted as a result of the loss of our two brothers. ...God loves you and when God loves you, he loves you in a way you cannot comprehend. When somebody gives you something, ‘thank you’ is not enough, learn from it.”

“Any time parents have visited the school, they always asked about the latrine facilities in the school. This has been a concern for the parents and students. We thank you in ways that you can never imagine.”

President Akai stated that, “God loves you, education is the key to success.  We share the love of Jesus Christ.  Money for humanitarian projects comes from the tithes and offerings of Church members around the world.”
