On 2 August 2023, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated hospital equipment to the Atwima Foase District Hospital in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Community, church, and ethnic leaders gathered with hospital administrators and workers to celebrate the donation.

The equipment donated included a blood analysis machine, doppler for measuring fetal heart rate, suction machine, oxygen cylinders, vaccine refrigerators, incubators, hospital beds, and other critical hospital and laboratory equipment.
Representing the Church was President Isaac Akwasi Nkrumah of the Ghana Kumasi Suame Stake. He was accompanied by his wife and other Church members. “We are part of large humanitarian organization,” said President Nkrumah. “Members of the Church of Jesus Christ are not respecters of religion, ethnicity, or gender. We are all children of one God, and we need to take care of each other.”
The guest of honor at the donation celebration was the Honorable Kofi Amankwah Manu, a Member of Parliament, and Deputy Minister of Defense in Ghana. Joining Manu was Nana Kwaku Agyei, Chief of the local village.
Also attending was the Honorable Prince Osei Tutu Karikari, District Chief Executive, and District Assemblyman Peter Baffour Amankwa. Many community members joined hospital workers to witness the donation event. Representing the Atwima Foase District Hospital were Azure Nagbila, Physician Assistant of the hospital, and District Director of Health Services, Joseph Adomako.
“I am shocked by the quality and quantity of equipment donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” said guest of honor Amankwaa Manu. “On behalf of this community and this hospital, I want to express our gratitude to the Church for the wonderful support you have given to this community.”
The hospital serves residents of the Atwima Kwanoma District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The capitol of the district is in Foase, which is 20 Kilometers north of Kumasi. Currently there are approximately 250,000 residents of the district.
