Before viewing the Sunday morning session of the General Conference, attendees watched the Worldwide Report for April 2026, which highlighted the global growth of the Church and the positive impact of its humanitarian initiatives in communities across the world. The video emphasized efforts focused on relief, self‑reliance, education, health, and disaster response.
Media professionals were then invited to watch selected excerpts from the 196th Semiannual General Conference. Messages shared during the conference underscored the importance of service, cooperation, and compassion. One quotation from President Dallin H. Oaks, delivered during the October 2022 General Conference, was highlighted during the discussions:
“We need to be more aware and more appreciative of the service of others. The Church of Jesus Christ is committed to serving those in need, and it is also committed to cooperating with others in that effort.”

Interactive discussions followed, allowing journalists to ask questions, seek clarification, and gain deeper insight into the Church’s activities, organization, and future perspectives. Church leaders responded openly, fostering a constructive exchange and encouraging transparency.
The theme of peace and respectful dialogue was further reinforced by a message from President Oaks given during the April 2026 General Conference:
“As followers of Christ, let us follow Him by forgoing contention and by using the language and methods of peacemakers.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed a stronger understanding of the Church’s mission and an increased appreciation for its humanitarian and community‑focused work. The discussions also helped build trust and collaboration between Church leaders and media professionals.
In the days following the event, several journalists who attended published articles about the Church, helping extend the reach of the General Conference and the Church’s Easter message to a broader national audience.
Church leaders expressed gratitude for the willingness of media professionals to engage and for their role in sharing accurate and balanced information. The meeting was widely regarded as a successful initiative that strengthened relationships and promoted open communication between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints and the media in Togo.
