Church Leaders Visit Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, To Build Friendships and Provide Humanitarian Aid

A delegation led by Elder Matthew L. Carpenter, President of the Africa Central Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, visited senior government officials in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo on January 27, 2023 to strengthen ties and donate medical supplies to the Kambisi Home for Seniors.

Elder Carpenter was accompanied by Elder Chardon Ndinga, Area Seventy for the Church, and President Jean Luc Magré and Sister Beatrice Magré of the Congo Brazzaville Mission, to donate wheelchairs, medical supplies, and essential medicine. The senior home is supported by the First Lady of the Republic of the Congo Antoinette Sassou and her foundation Congo Assistance.

The Congo Assistance Foundation was represented by Secretary General Mr. Michel Mongo, who is also an adviser to the Presidency of the Republic. The Church’s donation was tailored to address the greatest difficulties faced by the senior citizens. Samuel Pie Kouka, director of the center, thanked the Church for helping the elderly under his care.
