On 29 June 2024, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted leaders from Teshie and Nungua, Ghana to a special dinner at the Teshie Stake Center. The purpose of the event was to introduce the Church of Jesus Christ and share its mission, and to strengthen relationships with the invited dignitaries in hopes of supporting positive development in the two communities.
The guests came from the Ledzokuku and Krowor communities, and included civil, religious, and traditional leaders.
Among the invited guests were friends from the Muslim community. They were represented by the Imam of Teshie, Sheik Tijani Ahmen, who was accompanied by Alhaji Issah and Alhaji Torfi. The District Commander of Police, DSP Kofi Obiri, who had just recently taken up his command duties in the area, participated in the event.
Also in attendance, and from the Ledzokuku District Assembly, the District Engineer, Mr. Evans Sackey. From the Teshie Traditional Council, the Teshie Akwashongtse, Nii Sango Amarh 1 together with some Council members.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku, Honorable Benjamin Ayiku, who had attended the most recent Teshie Ghana Stake Conference, was very happy to be back for the dinner event. Hon. Ayiku was accompanied by Enam, Alordzinu, the Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the District, along with two support staff of the MP.
The Stake Presidency, President Jeffrey Odai Botchway and his two councilors, Presidents Leonard L. A. Abbey and Emmanuel Eyinda, were supported by the Stake Executive Secretary, Brother Patrick Eyeson and the Stake Clerk, Brother Prince Siaw. Other Stake officers present were Director of the Stake Communication Council, Brother Edward Karikari and two members of the council, Sister Naa Ayele Ardayfio Sekyere and Brother Aaron Ankomah. A member of the Stake High Council in charge of activities, Brother Edward Ekow Quansah, also attended,
There were two presentations that evening. The first, by Pathway and Church Education was presented by the Area Online Education Programme Manager, Brother Francis Adjei Akpor. It showcased the many opportunities offered, especially for the youth, both church members and friends. The other presentation was on Family Search and Family History work, by Brother Julius Ahiaku (Area Oral Genealogy Operations Manager). It made an equally strong impression on the community leaders. They promised to share the good news with their people.
Hon. Ayiku who made a few remarks on behalf the special invited guests, was amazed that the Church would offer such great opportunities with the Pathway to its members and even non-members and joked about enrolling in the program, himself.
In his concluding remarks President Botchway, thanked the special guests for honoring the Stake’s dinner invitation, thus helping to ensure the purpose was achieved. He also talked about the purpose of the Church and Jesus Christ being our chief cornerstone.
