On February 6, 2026 and on behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a major humanitarian initiative was carried out at Tango Hapo Primary School 1 and 2, marked by the delivery of a significant donation aimed at sustainably improving the learning conditions of students and the working environment of teachers.

This donation included:

•             450 school benches,

•            Drinking water boreholes,

•             12 chairs and 12 tables for teachers,

•             2 administrative tables,

•             18 toilets for students and 4 toilets for teachers.

The official ceremony took place in the presence of the Honourable Ntumba Mishika Micheline, whose advocacy for this school was decisive. Deeply moved by the precarious conditions in which the children were studying, she alerted the Church, which responded favourably to her appeal after a thorough assessment of the needs on the ground.

Speaking on behalf of the Church, Area Seventy Elder Ilunga Ndalamba Dan, expressed profound gratitude to the local authorities for their genuine collaboration, as well as to the donors whose generosity made this action possible. He also shared his joy and sincere thanks to Heavenly Father and His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, the source of inspiration for this humanitarian commitment.

This initiative illustrates the constant commitment of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints alongside the Government in promoting education, both nationally and provincially. Faithful to its spiritual and social mission, the Church does not limit itself to spiritual support but actively works for the well-being of humanity, following the example of the Savior Jesus Christ who “went about doing good.”

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Church’s humanitarian actions particularly focus on:

•             improving access to drinking water,

•             rehabilitating sanitary infrastructure,

•             and providing medical and educational equipment.

The intervention at Tango Hapo Primary School 1 and 2 is only a first step; further initiatives are planned to sustainably strengthen learning conditions and contribute to the flourishing of students.

This project was made possible thanks to the voluntary donations and contributions of Church members worldwide, united by the desire to serve and build a better world in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
