Representing the Church was Elder Jorg Klebingat, a General Authority Seventy and first counsellor in the Africa West Area presidency. He was accompanied by Marian Esiape, Managing Director of Welfare and Self-reliance for the Church.
The Kanda Technical Institute is one of Ghana’s National Vocational Training Institutes. Their mission is to provide demand-driven training and skills to all Ghanaians. The Institute was established in 1999 under the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare.
Attending the ceremonies were numerous community and educational leaders from Accra. Accepting the donation for the Institute was Emily Sam, Principal of the Institute, and a representative of the Honorable Hajia Salma Mohammed, Municipal Chief Executive, Ayawaso East Municipality.
“We are so grateful to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their generous donation. This will help promote effective learning,” said Principal Sam. “These donations come at the right time as our trainees prepare themselves for their chosen occupations. They are hungry to learn, and you have provided them the tools.”
Elder Klebingat challenged the students to, “listen carefully to your teachers. Do not just pass your classes or projects but seek for excellence in all that you do. Don’t settle for average, push yourselves to be the best you can be.” He also added, “If you do this, there is no limit to what you can accomplish in your chosen occupations.”
A message of thanks was delivered to the Church by Madam Felicity Tonyigah, Head of Department, Fashion Design and Technology. On behalf of the trainees, she offered gratitude for the donations and promised that they will be used to benefit the trainees and help them to reach their employment goals.
