Elder Rasband first met Dr. Charles Mulli, founder and CEO of an organization that assists children in need in Kenya, at last December’s Christmas concert of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square in Utah. Dr. Mulli’s story was shared during the performance.
“It’s thrilling for me today to be here and see the realization, Dr. Mulli, of that little visit we had in Salt Lake City, where I promised you that we would meet again in Kenya,” Elder Rasband said.

Dr. Mulli brought his choir — made up of some of his children — to a gathering in Nairobi to perform for Elder Rasband and his wife, Melanie. They were joined by Elder Kevin R. Duncan of the Presidency of the Seventy, his wife, Nancy; Elder Thierry K. Mutombo, President of the Central Africa Area, his wife, Nathalie; Elder Paul B. Pieper, First Counselor in the Africa Central Presidency, his wife, Melissa; and other Church leaders.
“We praise God that he’s made you an instrument in his hand to bring these children and 9,000 other children off the streets of wherever you find them, and give them a place they can call home,” said the Apostle.
