The GIS offices are within walking distance from the Church’s Africa West Area headquarters, so on 15 August, 2025, a small contingency of Church representatives walked to the GIS offices for a small handover ceremony. During the ceremony, The Church donated 12 desktop computers along with 12 monitors and UPS batteries, 6 printers, and numerous chairs, desks, and steel cabinets.

The Ahafo Regional Commander of the GIS, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI)  Mr. Francis Palmdeti, initiated the request of The Church.  Himself a member of The Church, he is aware of the humanitarian service that is a hallmark of followers of The Savior and he contacted the Welfare and Self Reliance department of the Africa West Area to request the assistance. As they arrived at the GIS offices, he greeted the Church members warmly and welcomed them.

Various officers and officials of the GIS gathered with Church representatives in a small conference room to celebrate and acknowledge the donation.  During the handover ceremony, Madam Evelyn Lolonyo Lotsu, acting Deputy Comptroller‑General responsible for the Finance and Administration Directorate within the GIS noted that the donation showed genuine Christian service not only to GIS, but to the nation as a whole, and she expressed her gratitude for the Church’s ongoing support, citing other occasions when the Church has provided help to the GIS, such as when GIS uses the nearby stake center to hold large meetings.

President Ronald Danso, Second Counselor in the Accra Ghana Christiansborg Stake of The Church, presided over the event.  In his brief remarks he expressed The Church’s ongoing commitment to supporting GIS and other government institutions that help all citizens of Ghana, including the many missionaries that serve here and pass through here while attending the Accra Ghana Missionary Training Center. He affirmed that the Church is committed to doing what Jesus did in His lifetime of service, and that in serving our fellow man, we are serving Him.

Donations to government and law enforcement agencies represents the commitment of Church members to live by the principles of the 12th article of faith: “We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.”  It also represents a commitment expressed in the opening words of the song, “Because I have been given much, I too must give.”  The generous humanitarian efforts of The Church in Ghana and throughout the world are made possible through donations by its members, and they are a testament to the faith of members who live the law of tithes and offerings.
