Have I Done Any Good in the World Today?
The Young Single Adults (YSA) of the Calabar Nigeria Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were posed that question. Have I done any good in the world today? Together they pondered and decided to help the orphans in the Motherless Babies Dormitory in Calabar.
In a country of over 200 million people, it is estimated over 17.5 million are orphans. This group of underprivileged appealed to the YSA group as they pondered the song, “Have I done any good in the world today?”
Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad, and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone’s burden been lighter today,
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help, was I there?
The YSA donated food and supplies to help these individuals while singing gospel hymns and praying with them. The staff was so grateful for the kindness shown. “We really appreciate your present. It will go a long way to help the children, especially now that everybody is struggling to survive from the effect of COVID-19.” Esther, one of the residents, said “ I feel so good, and I say, God bless you, Amen!”
The YSA were also touched by the gift that they gave. Addy Williams, the Stake YSA representative added, “I feel so much better and fulfilled that we were able to positively touch the hearts of those children.”
