May 13, 2025 was a day of celebration at the Kabuga Youth Center in the Gasabo District of Rwanda as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints donated vocational training equipment to the center. This youth vocational training center faced a shortage of adequate, good quality equipment, for hands on learning. Through the Gasbo District, where the Church has five branches, a request was made for support, and the Church responded through a humanitarian project by providing essential learning tools to enhance the center’s training programs.

Rwanda Kigali District President Aphrodis Ndahimana expressed gratitude to the Gasabo District for their willingness to partner with the Church and highlighted the Church’s deep love and commitment to the youth. He spoke about the many meaningful programs the Church has for young people, emphasizing that the Church believes in their potential and recognizes them as the future of the country. He explained that this belief is what motivated the Church to donate the vocational training equipment—to empower the youth with skills that will help them become self-reliant and productive members of society. He encouraged the youth to take responsibility by caring for the tools and using them wisely so that many others can benefit from the center in the future. He concluded by expressing hope that the skills acquired here would help them become self-sufficient and a blessing to their communities and country.
Gasabo District Mayor Bernard Bayasese expressed heartfelt gratitude to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its generous donation of over 1,400 desks to various public schools across Gasabo District. He also acknowledged the Church’s significant contributions, which include the construction of three boreholes with five water access points, school latrines, water tanks, and girls’ hygiene rooms—all aimed at improving the learning environment in local schools.
He emphasized that the district deeply values and appreciates the Church’s continued support, and he assured that all donated equipment and infrastructure will be well maintained and used responsibly. The mayor also encouraged other churches to follow the example set by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in making a meaningful impact on the community.
