Kinshasa East Mission Welcomes New Mission Leaders President and Sister Tshilombo

“We love the missionaries and are delighted to serve alongside them.”

President Rémy Tshilombo and Sister Alda Tshilombo began their service as the new leaders of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Kinshasa East Mission on July 1, 2023. The Kinshasa East Mission boundaries extend over a vast portion of this country, from the eastern half of Kinshasa to borders with Republic of the Congo to the west, Central African Republic to the north, and South Sudan and Uganda to the east.

They replaced President Pierre Haboko and Sister Jolie Haboko, who completed their mission service on 30 June.

President and Sister Tshilombo currently preside over 230 missionaries who serve in eastern Kinshasa, its suburbs, and neighboring cities, as well as in Kisangani, located in the center north of the country and a two-hour flight from Kinshasa. The Church is experiencing rapid growth in this mission and across DR Congo.

Upon starting his full-time mission, President Tshilombo said, “Sister Tshilombo and I were called by the will of God and by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We love the missionaries and are delighted to serve alongside them.”

President and Sister Tshilombo have two children. They are from Kinshasa, DR Congo. President Tshilombo is a former stake president, stake presidency counselor, high councilor, bishop, ward clerk, elder’s quorum presidency counselor, Primary teacher, and seminary teacher. He was born in Kananga, DR Congo, to Bakajika Mubiayi and Suzanne Kapinga.

Sister Tshilombo is a former stake Relief Society presidency counselor and ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president, ward Primary president, ward Relief Society presidency counselor, ward Young Women presidency counselor, ward Primary presidency counselor, Relief Society teacher and Sunday School teacher. She was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, to Kiangala Emedo Menayamu and Kikengi Magy Nsola.
