Leaders of the two missions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints headquartered in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, reacted with joy to the Church’s announcement of a third mission in this metropolis of approximately 18 million inhabitants.
This was just one of 36 new missions announced on November 1, 2023, which by July 2024 will bring the Church's total worldwide to 450 missions. The purpose of missions is to invite all to come unto Jesus Christ.
- President Patrick Mawongo of the Kinshasa West Mission said, “our feelings are very positive about the new DRC Kinshasa South Mission, which was just created to help people come to Jesus Christ and to become His disciples for life, through the three main principles of missionary work: LOVE – SHARE – INVITE. »
- President Remy Tshilombo of the Kinshasa East Mission added, “when we received this news, we had feelings of joy, thankfulness, and gratitude to the Lord for the way He is hastening His work in our country. »
There are currently five missions in DR Congo: Kinshasa West, Kinshasa East, Mbuji-Mayi, Kananga and Lubumbashi. The Church also announced a new mission in Kolwezi, which will bring the total number of missions in the DRC to seven by July 2024.
