The facility consisting of three compounds houses a total of nearly 700 patients. Many of the patients from the Mekedonia Home are incontinent so maintaining clean dry bedding is always an issue. When Clyde Moses, Director of Latter-day Saint Charities, and his wife Dolores toured the facility, they saw the need to assist in supplying bedding. Nearly 300 washable blankets have been donated, in addition to 220 sheet sets and 230 mattresses.

The Mekedonia Home Facility Director, Manio Taddesse, commented that this donation will make a huge difference to the patients and care gives. She told them through an interpreter, “You won’t get your prize here, but you will get your prize in heaven.”
“There is a large bulletin board near the front door of one of the units that shows the “before and after pictures” of several of the patients. Most of the patients were homeless and living in the streets because they had no family to care for them. Others were at home but their family could not meet their needs. Many had mobility problems and could not care for themselves. Because of the kindness and care shown to them at this center, they are now feeling better, thriving, and contributing to society.
One such patient now translates English literature into the Amharic language so others can have something to read.
