It was the first stake created outside of the Nairobi metropolitan area. In only 17 months the Stake was ready to be split as the new Makindu District was created on December 7, 2025.
The Kyulu area is home to one of the first official branches of the Church in Kenya which met in the home of Brother Gideon Kasue and his family who were baptized in the mid-1980’s.
Kyulu Stake President Francis W. Sammy said, “ It was a day to celebrate the efforts of the members who are working hard to see the Church grow. The missionary efforts are bearing fruit, even if not instant.”
President David T, Onekawa - the Kenya Nairobi East Mission President organized the district during the Sunday session of the Kyulu stake conference. President Onekawa commended the members for being on the front line in the work. He said that he was excited by the fast growth of the Church in the area.
The new district president, Brother Aaron Kitung'u Mbuvi said "I did not expect this call neither had I ever thought of it before. I hope that I will fit in the big shoes. The Lord is always there to guide us through. My counselors and I will work hard to have the Church grow in Makindu district. Let us always trust in the Lord in everything we do. I want to say like Nephi that I will go and do the things which the Lord commands me to do"
The Makindu district will be comprised of the Kiteng'ei branch, Makindu 1st branch, and Makindu 2nd branch.
