Sunday, October 10, 2021, marked a historic moment for members of the newly created Wellington Sierra Leone Stake, which was born out of the Kissy Sierra Leone Stake.
President Sammy Baldwin Moses was called as Stake President, with Patrick Amara Momoh as First Counselor and Yusufu Bindi as Second Counselor.
The creation of the Wellington Sierra Leone Stake is viewed as a historic moment by many who are familiar with the history of the Church in Sierra Leone. The Church’s official early development in Sierra Leone began in May 1988, when the country was dedicated by Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
In his remarks, Elder Daniel Kabason, of the Area Seventy said that a lot of hard work is required to get a new stake. He expressed gratitude to the membership of the new Stake, and to the leadership of the Kissy Sierra Leone Stake for what he referred to as "relentless efforts" in ensuring that the Stake is divided
In the Presiding authority's remarks, Elder Jorge Klebingat, of the Seventy said, “the process of calling the new Stake Presidency was done purely by revelation”. He congratulated the new Presidency and called on the membership to be supportive and to pray for them at all times. He summarized by quoting the Savior as saying “…what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am” – 3 Nephi 27:27.
