On the 29th of April 2026, Church representatives were invited to join in a celebration luncheon honoring donors and partners who had joined with Caritas Nairobi in serving the less fortunate.  Caritas is, as stated on their website, “A global confederation of Catholic Institutions working in humanitarian emergencies and towards the betterment and fullness of life for the marginalized in the community.”

“This gathering is, above all, a moment of gratitude,” stated Father Peter Kiarie, Director of Caritas Nairobi, “Gratitude for the relationships we have built, for the lives transformed through our collective efforts, and for the enduring commitment to serve the most vulnerable in our communities.”  Adding that “Every act of generosity and solidarity shared here is not only service to humanity, but our living witness of our faith in action.”

Archbishop Phillip A. Anyolo echoed this sentiment in his address stating, “This luncheon is, above all, an expression of gratitude.  It provides us with an opportunity to recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of our partners whose support, whether financial, technical, strategic, or moral support, has enabled us to respond more effectively to the needs of the most vulnerable in our communities.”

He continued by focusing on the important work being accomplished by this partnership.  “We have worked closely with families facing economic hardships, restoring hope where despair was lingering.  We have empowered youth and women to be sustainable in their livelihoods, nurturing dignity through self-reliance, and we have responded to social challenges with a compassion that recognizes the sacred worth of every human person.”

“These achievements”, he went on to say, “are not merely institutional milestones, they are signs of living faith expressed in action.  A testimony to what becomes possible when we journey together in solidarity and shared responsibilities.”
