On June 17, 2025, the Regional Hospital Center (CHR) of Tsévié in Togo celebrated the donation of medical equipment from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The process began during the 2024 All Africa Service project, an annual event when, stake-by-stake, members of the Church engage in service projects across the continent. Leaders of the Lomé Togo Agoe Stake had met with the CHR head of sanitation services to see if the stake members could be of service by whitewashing the facility’s fence. Through their service to the hospital, stake leaders established a good relationship with the Hospital Director, Dr. Mireille Kpodonou Epse Koriko.

Having seen first-hand the conditions of the hospital during the service project, particularly its need for critical medical equipment, the stake leaders approached Dr. Mireille to see if the Church could be of further assistance and suggested that he document the needs of the hospital. Dr. Mireille related: "We hurried to send the list of equipment that was already prepared. But we did not believe that the Church was capable of giving us this equipment. But to our great surprise, the response came back positive and that the Church was ready to provide the equipment."

In the process of working with the hospital, Elder Tonga H. Sai, an Area Seventy of the Church, highlighted the Church's commitment to concrete actions and to promoting positive change for the overall well-being of communities by ensuring that, just as the Savior demonstrated during is earthly ministry, both the temporal and spiritual needs of people are met. President Kelly Lundeen, President of the Cotonou Benin Mission who led the Church's delegation to the presentation of the donations, detailed the Church's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of care provided to the population and emphasized the importance of local support to build a better future for public health.

President Komlan E. Amehouenou, President of the Lomé Togo Agoe Stake, expressed his deep gratitude for the fruitful collaboration between the Church and the Tsévié CHR to provide temporal support to the community.

The Church’s donation provides not only medical equipment, but a comprehensive array of dental equipment.  Mr. Gilbert Tomti, the master Odontostomato of the facility, was delighted with the fact that his practice received a significant and critical boost.  He indicated that the equipment had come at just the right time because the Tsévié CHR no longer had adequate equipment for responding to the dental needs of its patients. In all, hospital administrators and staff were extremely grateful for the donation.

The Tsévié Regional Hospital Center is the 3rd largest in the maritime region of Togo.  Strengthening this centre helps offload the strain on the two larger hospitals of Lomé in providing qualilty care to the population. Donations such as the one to the Tsévié CHR are part of the Church’s ongoing humanitarian efforts across the globe to follow the Savior’s commandment to watch over the poor and the needy.
