Brazzaville - On August 22, 2025, Elder Thierry K. Mutombo, President of the Africa Central Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was officially welcomed by Her Excellency Mrs. Irène Marie Cécile MBOUKOU KIMBATSA née GOMA, Minister of Social Affairs, Solidarity and Humanitarian Action. This meeting represented an important milestone in strengthening the partnership between the Church and the Congolese government within the framework of the humanitarian response to the June 2025 floods.

All rights reserved.The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has presented the Congolese government with a significant humanitarian donation of food, non-food supplies, and building materials in response to the June 2025 floods. This donation is intended to support families severely affected by the disaster, particularly those who need to rebuild their homes. It will strengthen the humanitarian assistance operations carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Humanitarian Action, which has already enabled assistance to 2,473 of the 7,368 recorded households.

We have made it as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We don’t only care about ourselves, but also about our brothers and sisters."
“It is with joy that we participate in and support the government's efforts, because we love others as ourselves and emulate Jesus Christ's example”, he added.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Her Excellency Mrs. Irène Marie Cécile MBOUKOU KIMBATSA, expressed her gratitude: "Thank you very much. We are deeply grateful to receive, on behalf of our fellow countrymen affected by the June 14 floods, this donation that your Church has just made available to us. We will be able to go back to them to continue what we started... And we think, on behalf of the government, that we have just found a great partner." And she concluded: "The Prime Minister was right to welcome you and refer you to our ministry. Today, you have fulfilled your commitment.”
