Renovated School, the Bobokoli Institute, is Handed Over with Celebration in Ngaliema Community, Democratic Republic of Congo

On April 27, 2024, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints handed over the renovation of the BOBOKOLI Institute, a Catholic school in the community of Ngaliema in Kinshasa, D.R. Congo. This contribution will enable more than 4,300 students to study in safer and healthier conditions.

The construction of a podium, the renovation of 17 classrooms, the refurbishment of administrative offices, the refurbishment of sanitary facilities including 33 toilets, and the acquisition of 360 benches, make up the gift that was gratefully received by the community, students, teachers and parents.

"It's a Miracle!" declared Brother Edouard Yatha, Head of the BOBOKOLI institute. He said: "Since its creation in 1956, the school has been aging and was already in an advanced state of disrepair, requiring a lot of resources for repairs. But the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to our rescue!" He also said, "This gift from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a testimony of faith in God, the solidarity of the community and a commitment to education, for which we are very grateful."

The handover ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Madame Antoinette N'Samba Kalambayi, Minister of Mines of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She declared: "What the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has done is an example of solidarity and brotherhood and a gesture that we, the Congolese people, must emulate and practice on a daily basis, and show to our children."

The Regional Manager of Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Didier MUTOMBO, who came to present the Church's gift to the community, declared: "I am particularly touched by this renovation because I myself studied in this school, and I see the joy of the children who will thrive in very good conditions."
