As twins, Hannah and Seenah Moriba did everything together. They went to school together, shared the same friends, and worshipped together as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Kissy Ward in Sierra Leone. So, it makes perfect sense that when it was time to serve a mission for the Church that they would do that together as well.

On 25 July 2023, Hannah and Seenah entered the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Accra Ghana. Both sisters were called to serve in Nigeria, Hannah in the newly created Nigeria Aba Mission, and Seenah in the Nigeria Owerri Mission. The twins were both excited and apprehensive but knew this is what they were supposed to be doing. “Very early, we knew that serving as missionaries was part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us,” said Seenah.
The sister’s path to the MTC began when they left their native Liberia as young girls to live with their aunt in Sierra Leone. “We left our parents because the education opportunities were greater in Sierra Leone,” said Hannah. Their parents were not members of the Church, but their aunt had recently been baptized. Soon the girls were meeting with the missionaries and in November of 2013 they were both baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were ten years old.
The rigors of the MTC and the climate change in Accra have been difficult for the sisters but they have persevered. “There are so many things to learn, and we need to study all the time,” said Seenah. “But it does not seem hard because we knew that we would need to sacrifice, it’s part of His plan.” Both sisters will leave the MTC after three weeks, and for the first time in their lives, they will be separated. Hannah said, “It will be hard, but we are both really looking forward to getting to our missions.”
Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa which borders Guinea and Liberia, with the Atlantic Ocean to the Southwest. The Church began sending missionaries to Sierra Leone in 1988, and despite years of regional conflicts and epidemics, the Church has grown rapidly. Currently there are 29,119 members of the Church meeting in 93 congregations.
