United Religions Initiative-Africa Ambassador Visits Africa Central Area Office

On 15 March 2024, the Africa Central Area presidency, led by Elder Ian S. Ardern, hosted a significant meeting with the United Religions Initiative-Africa Ambassador Mussie Hailu at the Area offices located in Galleria Offices Business park in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya.

Ambassador Mussie Hailu, who also serves as the Regional Director for Africa and Representative to the Africa Union, ECA, UNEP, and IGAD, was welcomed by Elder Ian S. Ardern, Africa Central Area President, Elder Paul B. Pieper, Second Counselor in the Africa Central Area, and Sister Claudine Isekusu, the Area Communication Director.

The purpose of this meeting was to demonstrate the openness and transparency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as to build friendships and create contacts in countries around Africa. The Church, as a global entity and as disciples of Jesus Christ, believes in caring for one another and strives to build relationships that will help people – brothers and sisters - in all countries of the world.

The United Religions Initiative (URI) aims to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, end religiously motivated violence, and create cultures of peace, justice, and healing for the earth and all living beings. This aligns with the Church's mission of making the world a better place through activities of humanitarian help, emotional support, and spiritual enlightenment centered around Jesus Christ.
