Youth from Lubumbashi DR Congo Participate in Historic Worldwide Day of Testimony

“The gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life."

On Sunday October 22, 2023, youth from around the world were uplifted by the special testimony of Russell M. Nelson, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Young Men General President Elder Steven J. Lund and Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman also participated in the global broadcast.

Young men and young women from the Kisanga Stake, in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, shared their testimonies following the prophet's teachings. Accompanied by their stake and ward leaders, just after Sacrament meeting, they were inspired with the testimonies and sharing of experiences that will help them remain on the covenant path of the Lord.

  • Pascal Kabamba, a 16-year-old young man, testified: “the gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life and the teachings I receive from this church have made me a person that I did not expect to become in this life. Thank you to the missionaries of the church for preaching the Gospel to those who lack it."
  • Dimerica Zing, a 13-year-old young woman, gave thanks to God and Jesus Christ for His atoning sacrifice. She also thanked her parents who never stop praying for her and for the grace and strength she finds each time she reads the Book of Mormon and the blessings that come from attending seminary.
  • Célestine Selabu Tshilombo, a 15-year-old young woman, also bore testimony on the two key points she heard from President Nelson, namely the importance to young people of keeping the Word of Wisdom and also the love that our Heavenly Father has for all His children throughout the world.
