The magic of Christmas lit up the hearts of about 500 children from Congolese police families living in Camp Lufungula in the Lingwala commune, during a Christmas celebration held on December 26, 2025, in their honor. The event was initiated by Mrs. Alongabony Kapata Teresa, President of the Association of Police Officers’ Wives for Development, with the support of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This festive activity, marked by songs, games, and the distribution of gifts, took place in a warm atmosphere filled with solidarity. The goal was to bring joy to children whose parents serve daily to ensure the nation’s security.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was represented by Brother Kale Kabashi, accompanied by Brother Flory Pondolo from the humanitarian department, as well as Mr. Elie Kalala Twikala, Public Affairs Manager, demonstrating the Church’s ongoing commitment to social and community initiatives. “Christmas is a time of sharing and love. We want these children to feel that they are important and that their families are recognized for their sacrifice,” declared Brother Kabashi. Mrs. Alongabony Kapata Teresa also expressed her gratitude to the Church for its support, emphasizing that this action is part of strengthening community ties and providing moral support to families of law enforcement officers, who often face significant socio-economic challenges.

Cultural performances, a festive meal, and the giving of presents symbolizing the spirit of Christmas brought joy to this delightful occasion at the camp.

This celebration is a concrete example of collaboration between religious institutions and local organizations to promote peace, fraternity, and the well-being of families in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
