On December 5, 2024, members of the National Union of Organizations for The Disabled (NUOD), specifically the visually impaired of that group, joyfully gathered in the compound of their National Headquarters in Sinkor, Monrovia to receive food items donated to them through the Church's Africa West communication department.
The donation to the NUOD was part of the "Light the World" campaign in the Africa West Area. The campaign focuses on celebrating the birth of Christ and which encourages all people to share His light and emulate His acts. The Liberia food drive was designed to help lighten the burden of the less privileged in Monrovia during the festive season.
Salomie Weah, the country's National Communication Director, told those who were gathered there that the donation was financed from tithes and offerings of faithful members of the Church with the hope that the donation would contribute to their Christmas celebrations. President Prince S. Nyanforh, Church Communications Department National Priesthood Chair, encouraged leaders of the NUOD to ensure that those to whom they distributed the food were those who needed it most.
“This food was bought by God's money, so let corruption go far from it so that you can be blessed" he admonished.

In his short remarks, the President of the NUOD, Peter Flomo, thanked the Church for making the donation possible at such time of the year and promised that he would safeguard the donated food items, assuring them that the intended beneficiaries would indeed receive all that had been designated for them.
The joy and gratitude exhibited by the beneficiaries was overwhelmingly apparent as many of them requested handshakes and hugs from the distribution team, and expressed thanks to the Church of Jesus Christ for their donation. Having seen the Church’s efforts to spread the Light of Christ, many of the recipients also asked about the location of the Church in Liberia, saying that “any church that can help people is a good church.”
As the spokesperson for the NUOD, Mr. Flomo reaffirmed the heartfelt gratitude of all who benefitted.
“Thank you to the Latter-Day Saints Church for coming to our aid at this time. There are not much words to say thank you but our faces today can tell you how much grateful we are to you for this donation and we hope that you remember us next year again," he said.
Media Houses that provided coverage for the donation ceremony include Banna FM and TV and OK FM who later aired the news on their 6 pm and 9 pm broadcasts each of that day.
