This visit was significant as it marked the first interaction between the new IRCK leadership and the Church's Africa Central Area leaders. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U) with IRCK, and this meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to familiarize themselves and discuss matters of mutual interest aimed at enhancing peace, love, and unity within the community.
Dr. Maiywa expressed his gratitude, saying, "This has been one of the most exciting visits I have ever had. I have seen this place but didn’t know this is your Area office. Today, I had the first-hand opportunity to visit. I appreciated the love, the warmth; you are wonderful people. The gift of the Book of Mormon from President Mutombo is so beautiful. We are truly grateful for this partnership and thank the Lord for bringing you to this country. You are God-sent. IRCK would like to say thank you; you are such wonderful people."
Elder Mutombo shared his thoughts on the meeting: "The meeting was really inspiring and strengthening. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya, to promote peace in the country and work together to bless communities. It is a great privilege for us to work together with them. As you know, the purpose of the gospel of Jesus Christ is to bring good tidings, and we emulate the example of Jesus Christ by serving others. We are working together to bring the light of Christ to others by serving them as the Savior would.Through this partnership,we are building bridges of love, service, and connection that will bless not only this generation but many more to come. We are working with IRCK on an education program, which is so important for countries, individuals, and families."
The visit highlighted the commitment of both organizations to work collaboratively for the betterment of the community and to foster inter-religious harmony.
