Several dignitaries were involved in the official kickoff. The Mayor of Cape Coast, Honorable Ernest Arthur offically started the program and said, "With food for the elderly, including widows, widowers and the disabled, and those genuinely in need as a true way of serving humanity (Ephesians 26:1-2. This will go a long way to light the world of all beneficiaries and give them a piece of mind. I wish to plead to other organizations to emulate our Lord Jesus Christ in serving others to bring light to the hopeless and needy this festive season and beyond. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, fed 5000 with 5 loaves and 2 fishes as an example of service to humanity. I pledge my support to The Church and thank them for this year’s event. On this note and together with the leadership of The Church we declare LTW 2022 duly launched."
Imam Mulvi Abdul Hamid also added "I am fortunate and I count myself blessed to be with you. Jesus Christ, may the blessings of peace and Allah be upon him. In the book of Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God For us to enjoy peace and tranquility and harmony there is a need for us to have brotherly unity. In the same book of Matthew 5:14 Jesus Christ says: It gives light to everyone in the house. That they may see your good deeds and see your Father which is in heaven. This also conforms to the teachings of the Quran. For peace to prevail in the world there is nothing like I am a Muslim, I am a Christian, I am a Jew, I am a traditionalist. We need to help each other. We need to support each other. We need to also be tolerant enough to accept each other so that we can have peace prevailing in our society.
And Elder Gifford Nielsen, Area President of the Africa West Area followed it all up, "There are millions of Heavenly Fathers son's and daughters in this area. For some reason, this Light The World kickoff came to Cape Coast Ghana. Because of you and because of all of you doing exactly what has been said, joining together to unify our feelings and our efforts to bless Heavenly Father's sons and daughters. That which is of God is light and he that continueth receiveith light and continueth….and that light groweth lighter and brighter until the perfect day. Can we all join together to Light The World to make it a perfect day for those that are lucky enough to cross our paths every day? From all of us with the Church, may you join with us to Light The World in a significant way and make this world a better place …is my prayer."
