Brother Albert Frederick Alexander was called to serve as President of the newly created Kanifing Branch. Called to serve alongside President Alexander are Joseph Kai Jumu, First Counselor; Andy Onyema Mba, Branch Clerk; and Tony Idahosa Akhanolu, Elders Quorum President. Prior to his calling as branch president, brother Alexander was serving as the First Counselor in the Banjul Branch Presidency.

In conjunction with the creation of the new Kanifing Branch, President Litchfield renamed the Banjul Branch as the Brusubi Branch. President Samuel Owusu Amako continues to serve as the Branch President of the Brusubi Branch with brother Paul O. Pratt serving as his second counsellor, Sampson Nana Kofi Amako serving as Branch Clerk, Augustine Osita Udeh as the Assistant Branch Clerk, and President Mario J. M. Yuffa serving as Elders Quorum President.

The first branch of the church in The Gambia was formally organized about three months after Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles visited The Gambia to meet with various government officials. Elder Christofferson’s visit led to The Church gaining legal status in The Gambia, and on 10th June, 2022, the Banjul Branch was created. Since that time, Church membership in the area has grown from about 22 members to over 100 members in October 2024, occasioning the need to divide and create the new branch.

The newly called leaders shared their testimonies with the congregation, after which President Litchfield gave his remarks, noting that “We are literally taking part in the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ here in The Gambia right now. What an amazing blessing! As we ask ourselves why we are here, let us remember and feel blessed that we are part of the miracle the Lord is performing in The Gambia.”
