As part of its annual global Light the World Christmas initiative, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated significant food and non-food items on November 25–26 to the Anna M. Enoch Orphanage Home, the visually and speech-impaired communities, and several struggling families in Monrovia, Liberia.

Enoch Orphanage Home in Upper Caldwell, Benson Street Township, and at the compound of the visually and speech-impaired groups in the Mango Town community in Virginia, Montserrado County.
Elder Prince Sonpon Nyanforh, an Africa West Area Seventy, joined by the Church’s Liberian Communication team, represented the Church and presented the supplies directly to leaders of each beneficiary group.
The initiative seeks to alleviate immediate needs while spreading holiday cheer and offering practical support to some of the community’s most vulnerable members—reflecting the campaign’s core message of following the example of Jesus Christ through service and love.
The donations were gratefully received by the administrators of the various organizations, who expressed deep appreciation. They emphasized the timeliness of the support, noting that it would help them continue providing essential care during a difficult economic period.
In his remarks, Elder Nyanforh explained that the Church’s commitment to Light the World extends beyond simple donations and reflects pure Christian love and service. He added, “The way that we show we love Jesus Christ is when we love and serve others. We are humbled to serve you today and hope that these items will bring you comfort and relief during this Christmas season.”

Referencing Mark 10:13–16, Salomie Weah, the Church’s National Director for Communication in Liberia, reminded the children that they are beloved sons and daughters of God. She testified that the Savior is mindful of them and desires that they feel joy during the Christmas season. She explained that He often sends “physical angels” through His Restored Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to bless His children.
She also recalled the Savior’s earthly ministry, noting how He ministered to both the spiritual and temporal needs of those who followed Him—healing the sick, restoring hope, and feeding the five thousand who were hungry. “As followers of Jesus Christ, we are happy to serve you today and remind you that the Savior has not forgotten you. He loves you and is mindful of your every need, and that is why He has sent us to bless you today through this Light the World donation,” she added.
Administrators from each organization testified that the Church’s generosity made a tangible difference. They said the joy and excitement from the children alone showed how timely, impactful, and well-received the donation was.
Pastor Enoch, owner of the Anna M. Enoch Orphanage Home, expressed gratitude, saying, “We were just waiting for a miracle. We had only two 25-kg bags of rice left to feed more than 70 children and caregivers. The Lord is truly wonderful.”
The Liberian Light the World initiative is one of many held across West Africa during the Christmas season. This worldwide effort encourages people to serve others and spread light and joy in their communities, ensuring that the spirit of giving is felt across diverse cultures—in Liberia and throughout the world.
