The first official presence of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central African Republic was in 1992. Since then, despite the many downturns the country has gone through during the tumultuous events in 1996 and 2003, and the more recent ones in 2013 and 2014, the members of the Church have kept their faith and maintained their faithfulness in their covenants, showing great resilience. Against all odds, the Central African Republic pioneers have stood firm and the Church has continued to progress.
Since the first presence of the Church in the country, the members have been actively involved in missionary work. They have invited people to hear the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, which they have been sharing, and participate in Church activities. Some friends who have received the gospel have been baptized and joined the Church. These efforts are the result of the dedication of the members and the returned missionaries.
On February 25, 2025, the Church in the Central African Republic celebrated a historic milestone. For the first time, full-time missionaries arrived in the country, marking a significant event for both the Church and its members in Bangui. This momentous occasion symbolizes the chance for all people in the Central African Republic to embrace the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, a blessing meant for all nations.
The first three missionaries, Elder Guekakoum Dohmo Régis Prince from Congo Brazzaville, Elder Bassokog Charles from Cameroon, and Elder Malela Gloriand Deldicas Dharel, also from Congo Brazzaville, arrived at a pivotal moment. Their arrival coincided with the division of the sole existing branch into three new ones: Bangui 1st, Bangui 2nd, and Bangui 3rd.
The members' joy was palpable as they welcomed young missionaries to their country for the first time. The sacrament meeting on March 2, the first with missionaries in the Central African Republic, was marked by deep expressions of gratitude from the faithful to God for creating the conditions necessary for His work to advance in this specific country.
