The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially purchased and received the title deed for a plot of land at Galleria Business Park, Karen, Nairobi, Kenya. This land will be the site for the construction of the Africa Central Area Office.
The Church’s administration is facilitated by geographic areas, overseen by an area president and two counselors, who are usually members of the Quorums of the Seventy and live in their assigned areas. Owning land in the area will ensure smooth administrative support to members of the Church.
Among those attending this significant event include Elder Paul B. Pieper, Second Counselor in the Africa Central Area presidency, Francis Kazeh-Anfo, Director for Temporal Affairs in the Africa Central Area, David Stanford-Area Legal Counsel, Peter Kirima- Africa Central Area Human Resource Manager, Johnny O. Baddoo, Area Meetinghouse Facilities Manager, Rolf Randall- Area Controller, Liza Ngimor- Project Manager, Victor Ochieng- Real Estate Project Manager, Mr. Trevor Kanja- Property Owner, Jeremiah Machio- Church History Manager, Claudine Isekusu- Area Communication Director, Elder Kimsey, and Elder Brasher and Elder Redd from the legal department.
Elder Paul B. Pieper, Second Counselor in the Africa Central Area Presidency, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “The efforts to create this area, the inspiration from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to create this area, and then the great pioneering work of Elder Sitati, Elder Carpenter and Elder Ardern to make us move forward in a way that now we can actually put a permanent home down for the area offices here in Nairobi to me this is a wonderful day, it represents hard work from the past and a bright future ahead.”
Francis Kazeh-Anfo the Director for Temporal Affairs in the Area also shared his enthusiasm, “It’s a very very important day because it marks the beginning of the construction of the Area office for the Africa Central Area, which would be the hub where the effort of establishing the Church will emanate throughout the area. We are very excited about this day and look forward to what is to come from now.”
Mr. Trevor Kanja the property owner, added, “To the Church, I think Kenya needs you, I think your impact would be felt, and I hope we will continue to have a great relationship going forward.”
This acquisition marks a significant milestone in the Church’s efforts to establish a strong presence in Africa and provide better administrative support to its members in the region.
